Domestic support worker

25 hours per week

Monday to Friday 1pm to 6pm

£13.45 per hour


Daughters of Charity of St Vincent De Paul is a registered Christian charity with a friendly,

welcoming culture and a warm working atmosphere. We are seeking a Domestic Support

Worker who will provide domestic support to the Sisters (residents of the house), enabling

them to live their lives more independently.


Our Sisters require assistance with general housekeeping; cooking their meals; food

shopping; arranging and attending appointments; dealing with online services; supervising

visitors to the house; and accompaniment while out on social visits. These duties will be an

invaluable support to the Sister in charge of the house.


The daily duties will vary greatly from day to day. The post holder will ensure that the Sisters

receive the highest standard of support and are always treated with great dignity and respect.

It is essential that the post holders have a clean and valid driving licence. Previous experience

in cooking and housekeeping, with good knowledge of working to good hygiene, health and

safety requirements is essential, as is excellent communication, prioritisation, IT and time

management skills. We are looking for individuals who have a caring, committed, patient and

motivated disposition.

Miraculous Medal Vision

In 1830, Our Lady appeared Sr Catherine Laboure, a Daughter of Charity novice in our Motherhouse in the Rue du Bac, Paris. Mary appeared to Sr Catherine three times from July 18th until November 27th. She asked the young Sister to have a medal made and gave Sr Catherine detailed instructions on how the medal should look.


It was to become the medal of the people who were to name it the ‘Miraculous Medal’.


Today the Motherhouse Chapel is known as the Chapel of the Miraculous Medal and welcomes pilgrims all day long from Morning Mass until Evening Prayer.
