Unveiling of the Glass Art Feature at MNCC

On Friday 27th May Sr Julie Kubasak DC, Assistant General, unveiled the newly installed glass feature at the Marillac, Warley, Brentwood. During a simple prayer service attended by the artist, Kirsty Brooks, Sisters, staff and friends, Fr Paul Roche CM, Provincial Director, blessed the new glass feature. A plaque to the right of the feature explained its symbolism. See text below:

“This artwork was donated by the Daughters of Charity to the residents and staff of The Marillac to mark its Centenary on 8 ^th September 2021 and to recognise it becoming an independent charity in April of the same year. It features St Louise de Marillac, the foundress of the Daughters of Charity, alongside an image of a Sister in the original habit, and an outline of the building. The key represents a sense of home and symbolises the unlocking of care. The hands are those of a resident and a staff member, depicting the relationship of compassion and healing which characterise the Vincentian spirit. This artwork seeks to inspire the community of Marillac Neurological Care Centre to continue to live and deepen this same Vincentian spirit today and into the future. “
